Come See Joi Barrios!
Filipina poet and activist, Joi Barrios, will be making an appearance and giving a presentation at Northeastern University tomorrow at 7 pm! The event is titled Unmasking Power and it is hosted by our friends of District One.
She will be selling CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES as a fundraiser for the medical and legal defense funds of BAYAN (Bagong Alyansang Makabayan) and KMU (Kilusang Mayo Uno or May First Movement).
why should you come?!
You guys will have the opportunity to look at key players and events with a critical eye. The talk then addresses the inevitable question: "How can Filipino American students participate in issues like globalization, war, and human rights?" Through the talk, the speaker wishes to introduce concepts which may be useful to the students: cosmopolitanism, nationalism, diaspora nationalism, and internationalism.
remember. tomorrow. 7 pm- 9pm. northeastern university. you don't want to miss this!
it will be held in Curry Student Center Room 320-322.
Barrel Man is soooooo excited to see Dr. Barrios!
